Please note that Oryx Medical & Dental is not a bulk billing practice. Our fees are based on AMA rates.
Appointments
We only accept telephone bookings to (03) 9827 4204. We request that all patients please phone for an appointment; we generally do not accept walk in appointments. However, we will attempt to see any urgent acutely unwell patients and children that day.

Please note that a standard appointment is allocated 15 minutes. If you believe that you may require more than 15 minutes, we would appreciate it if you could please let the receptionist know ahead of booking so that we may factor this into our scheduling. This includes appointments for more than one family member, potentially complex issues, mental health consultations and appointments where several issues are to be discussed.
Scripts and Referrals
We request that patients please make an appointment for any scripts or referrals that they require.
If you are requesting your regular scripts, Dr Allan may do them without a consultation. Please leave a message with the receptionist who will be able to get back to you on this.
Any patients who request scripts or referrals that are done without a consultation, will incur a charge of $30.

Results
We ask that all patients please call the surgery following their tests in order to receive results. Dr Allan will write up all patient results for the receptionist to pass on to patients in most cases.

Please note that some tests take longer than others for results to be provided. Please check back if your results are not yet ready.
After Hours
Oryx Medical is open from Monday to Thursday, 8:30 am until 6:00 pm, and on Friday from 8:30 am until 1:00 pm.
We are not open over the weekend.

Any urgent after hours matters should be referred to the Locum Service on 13SICK or patients should attend the emergency departments of the Cabrini, Epworth or Alfred Hospitals.

Messages
Please note that we are unable to transfer your call to the doctor or guarantee the return of any phone calls. If you have a query that does not warrant a consultation, please leave your question with the receptionist and we will endeavour to discuss this with the doctor and provide you with a response. If you urgently require a response, we recommend that you book an appointment.
